An incident resembling the plot of the film ‘Special 26’ came to light in Bagh town of Dhar district on Friday. Five miscreants posing as Income Tax officers entered the house of a contractor in the Brahmin locality and allegedly fled with 50 tolas (around 500 grams) of gold jewellery, ₹4 lakh in cash, and three mobile phones. Before escaping, the accused locked the contractor and his wife inside a room. According to contractor Rajkumar Malvi, the incident occurred around 10 am. The men introduced themselves as officers from the Income Tax Department and told the family they had received a complaint regarding the possession of black money, after which they began searching the house. Gold jewellery, cash taken from cupboard Malvi said the men demanded access to the cupboard and took the key from his wife Krishna. They then opened the cupboard and removed about 50 tolas of gold jewellery, which also included ornaments belonging to their daughter, along with ₹4 lakh in cash. After collecting the valuables, the miscreants locked Malvi and his wife inside a room from the outside and fled from the house. Police break lock to rescue couple After being locked inside, Rajkumar Malvi raised an alarm, which drew the attention of people in the neighbourhood. Residents quickly informed the police about the situation. Police from Bagh police station reached the spot, broke the lock from outside, and rescued the couple. Following the rescue, Malvi and his wife narrated the entire incident to the police. Stolen mobile found during investigation After receiving information about the robbery, Kukshi SDOP Sunil Gupta, Kukshi TI Rajesh Yadav, and Bagh TI Kailash Chauhan reached the house and inspected the premises. During the investigation, police recovered one of the three mobile phones allegedly taken by the robbers. The phone was found in a pile of garbage on the bypass road. SP assures early arrest Dhar Superintendent of Police Mayank Awasthi said the Dhar cyber team has been sent to Bagh to assist with the investigation. Police teams from all stations in the district have been deployed to trace and arrest the suspects. Contractor Rajkumar Malvi said he cooperated with the men during the search because he believed they were genuine Income Tax officers carrying out an official investigation.
