An eight-year-old boy died after being run over by a private tanker in the Lasudiya area of Indore on Monday morning. The child was standing outside his house when the tanker crushed him, police said. According to the police, the tanker’s wheel went over the boy’s head, causing his death on the spot. The deceased has been identified as Kartik, son of Banwari Bhand. The incident took place around 7 am in Niranjanpur Basti under the Lasudiya police station limits. Family members alleged that after the accident they tried to stop the tanker, but the driver sped away from the spot along with the vehicle. Police have not yet been able to trace the tanker or the driver. After receiving information, a police FRV team reached the spot and shifted the child’s body to MY Hospital for post-mortem. Police said further investigation into the incident is underway. They demanded police to catch the tanker since morning, but it is alleged that SI Manoj Hirwe, who was present at the spot, scolded them instead. Family had come to Indore in search of work Kartik’s father works as a laborer and also plays the dholak. Kartik was the youngest among three siblings. The family originally belongs to village Jagpura (Bakani police station) in Jhalawar district of Rajasthan. They had come to Indore about a year ago in search of work and were living in a hut in Niranjanpur settlement.
