In a case related to the death of a young man, the Jabalpur High Court has sent a notice to the state government asking how the body was buried without a post-mortem. While hearing the case on Saturday, the Division Bench of Justice Vivek Agrawal and Justice Ratnesh Chandra Singh Bisen directed the state government to submit a response within 7 days. The next hearing of the case has been scheduled for March 18. The petition was filed in the High Court by Jabalpur resident Kasimuddin Qureshi. The petitioner states that his brother, Ghyasuddin Qureshi, lived in Boripar village of Narsinghpur district. On March 26, 2025, Ghyasuddin was seriously injured in an accident. He was admitted to a private hospital in Jabalpur for treatment. On March 27, seeing his condition, the doctor sent him to Nagpur for treatment, where he died. Injury mark on deceased’s chest in discharge report The petitioner stated that the hospital discharge report showed marks of injury on the deceased’s chest. As such, this death cannot be considered normal. The applicant submitted an application to the Jabalpur SP on November 10, 2025, demanding an investigation and a post-mortem of the case. When no action was taken despite this, a petition was filed in the High Court demanding exhumation of the body from the grave for a post-mortem. Single bench had dismissed the petition It should be noted that earlier this petition was filed in the single bench of the High Court, which was dismissed. After this, the applicant filed a writ appeal in the division bench. The petitioner’s advocate, Abhinav Umashankar Tiwari, argued before the court that it is necessary to exhume the body from the grave for a post-mortem to bring out the truth of the case. Must respond within 7 days Justice Vivek Agarwal and Justice Ratnesh Chandra Singh Bisen’s division bench said in their order during the hearing that the single bench had disposed of the petition without hearing the government’s side. Therefore, now the state government will have to submit its response on both the writ petition and writ appeal within 7 days.
