Teen beaten to death with hammer in Damoh:Accused previously convicted for wife’s murder; arrested after chase

A 16-year-old boy was brutally killed with a hammer in Samanna village under Dehat police station limits in Damoh district, on Thursday afternoon. The accused, identified as Gudda Patel, allegedly attacked the minor on the head with a hammer, killing him on the spot. A video of the incident has also surfaced. Victim en route to sister’s home for Bhai Dooj The victim, Bharat Vishwakarma (16), was on his way to his sister’s house in Samanna village to receive a ceremonial Bhai Dooj Tilak. He was accompanied by his cousin Vijay Vishwakarma when the accused intercepted them on the way. According to police, Gudda Patel suddenly attacked Bharat with a hammer and an iron rod, striking him on the head. The assault proved fatal, and the teenager died at the scene. Accused fled with weapon, later nabbed After committing the crime, the accused fled toward nearby fields while still carrying the hammer. Local residents immediately informed Dehat police. Police, along with villagers, cordoned off the fields to capture him. During the chase, the accused allegedly attempted to attack both villagers and police personnel, forcing them to momentarily retreat. When the weapon slipped from his hand, villagers reportedly pelted stones and managed to overpower him. A video shows villagers surrounding the accused before he was detained. Accused had served sentence for wife’s murder City Superintendent of Police (CSP) H.R. Pandey said that the deceased, Bharat Vishwakarma, was a resident of Arth Kheda village under Imliya outpost. The attack took place around 1:30 pm as he was heading to his sister’s home. Police conducted inquest proceedings and sent the body for post-mortem examination. The accused has been taken into custody. CSP Pandey stated that the accused is considered to have a “psychopathic tendency” and is undergoing medical examination. He had previously served a prison sentence for murdering his wife and has now allegedly committed another killing. Police are investigating the motive behind the attack.
