A female prisoner ate crushed bangles, which caused her health to deteriorate in Betul District Jail on Saturday. Poonam, the wife of Raju (21), a resident of Ghoghri, has been in jail for about two and a half months on charges of murdering her husband. After the incident, there was panic in the jail administration. As the woman’s condition worsened, she was immediately taken to the district hospital, where doctors admitted her to the ICU, seeing her serious condition. After primary treatment, she was referred to Bhopal for better treatment. Woman’s boyfriend is imprisoned in the same jail Jail Superintendent Yogesh Sharma said that the initial investigation suggests this appears to be a suicide attempt due to remorse. Poonam was in judicial custody in connection with her husband’s murder case. It is being reported that her boyfriend, with whom she was previously in contact, is also in the same jail. Injury marks found on woman’s neck The Civil Surgeon at the district hospital said that internal injuries were found in the woman’s neck. After primary treatment, her condition remains serious, so she is being sent to Bhopal for further treatment. Surveillance increased in the women’s barracks The jail administration has prepared and sent a complete report of the incident to senior officials.
