A speeding luxury MG car caused havoc late Saturday night in Jabalpur. Starting from Bhanwartal Garden around 11:50 PM, the ‘hit and run’ spree continued till Income Tax Office and Russell Square. During this, the car hit pedestrians, police personnel, and more than half a dozen vehicles. 5 people were seriously injured in the accident. According to eyewitnesses, the car came at very high speed from Bhanwartal Garden and proceeded ahead after running over people standing on the roadside at Russell Square. After this, the car hit a young woman and other pedestrians on the way. Witnesses said that the car driver had lost control of the vehicle, but did not reduce the speed. Here the car hit a gas cylinder-laden vehicle with great force. It severely damaged 3 cars parked on the way. 3 to 4 motorcycles were crushed. This terrifying journey ended when the car crashed into the wall of Mint Park. The collision was so severe that the front part of the car was completely crushed. 5 people including policeman admitted to hospital In the accident, a young man named Sahil, a policeman named Aditya who was on duty, and a 14-year-old child were seriously injured. All the injured were immediately taken to a nearby hospital where their treatment is ongoing. Station in-charge Rajpal Singh Baghel said, “Initial investigation reveals a case of high speed and negligence. We are examining CCTV footage and recording statements of eyewitnesses. Strict legal action will be taken against the driver.”
