Muslim man held with Hindu minor girl in hotel:ABVP members assault him before taking to police station

A man was detained after he was found in a hotel room with a Hindu minor girl in Khajuraho in Chhatarpur district. The incident led to tension in the area after members of a student organisation forced entry into the room and later handed the accused over to the police. Police have begun an investigation into the matter. ABVP force entry into hotel room According to reports, members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) received information that the accused, identified as Shakeel, had brought a minor girl to Hotel Apna Cafe. When activists reached Room No. 205, the accused allegedly refused to open the door and denied that anyone else was inside. The door was then broken open. During a search of the room, the minor girl was found hiding inside a cupboard. Upon coming out, she reportedly appealed for help. See, pictures Assault and Vandalism reported Following the incident, some activists allegedly assaulted the accused and vandalised parts of the hotel reception and furniture. The youth was then taken in a procession through the street and handed over to the local police station. Videos found on accused’s phone Police sources said several objectionable videos were recovered from the accused’s mobile phone. In the clips, girls can allegedly be heard crying and asking to be released, while the accused is heard negotiating. Authorities are examining the videos as part of the investigation. Police investigation underway Khajuraho police station in-charge Prashant Sen confirmed that the accused has been taken into custody and is being questioned. The minor girl has been sent to the Women’s Help Desk in Chhatarpur for counselling and to record her statement. Police said strict legal action will be taken based on the girl’s statement and the evidence found on the mobile phone. Investigators are also examining whether others may have been involved.
