In Ujjain, Bajrang Dal workers beat up a Muslim youth wearing dhoti-kurta, tripund on forehead and rudraksh mala around neck. He had come to Ujjain from Mohali with a young woman. In Nanakheda area on Monday night, Bajrang Dal workers caught him, interrogated him and later assaulted him. A video of this also emerged on Tuesday, in which the youth is identifying himself as Zafar Khan and claiming to be a Shiva devotee. Bajrang Dal had received information that young men and women from different states were staying in a hotel. After waiting for about an hour, workers caught Zafar Khan wearing dhoti-kurta outside the hotel. During questioning, he first gave a Hindu name, but upon pressure admitted his name was Zafar Khan. Zafar said he is a Shiva devotee and the young woman had brought him to Ujjain for darshan of Lord Shiva. Both had visited Mahakal Temple, Harsiddhi Temple and Kal Bhairav Temple. More than a dozen people surrounded him, first questioned him and after his real name came out, they started beating him. During this, blood started flowing from the young man’s head. Police reached the spot after receiving information. Dispute over hotel stay as well Bajrang Dal district coordinator Rishabh Kushwah said that the young man and woman did not get rooms in many hotels. Later they stayed in a hotel in Nanakheda area. The young man had given a Hindu name at the hotel and was dressed as a priest. Later during questioning, he revealed his name as Zafar Khan. He has been handed over to the police. The woman is 32 years old and both are from different communities. The woman knew that the man belonged to a different religion. They knew each other from before.
