A momentary scare occurred during Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav’s visit to Khandwa district when his helicopter briefly moved backward during takeoff from Pandhana on Saturday. However, the pilot quickly brought the situation under control and the Chief Minister later reached Bhopal safely without any disruption. Dr Mohan Yadav had arrived in Pandhana to attend a state-level programme of the Ladli Bahna Yojana. After the event concluded, the Chief Minister boarded the helicopter at the local airstrip to return to Bhopal. As the helicopter lifted into the air, instead of moving forward immediately, it was seen drifting backward and remained suspended briefly mid-air. The unexpected movement caused concern among people present at the airstrip, with many holding their breath as the helicopter appeared to lose forward momentum. Within moments, however, the pilot demonstrated presence of mind and stabilised the aircraft, after which it resumed normal flight operations and departed safely. According to officials, the helicopter hovered for a few seconds before the pilot regained full control and proceeded with the scheduled journey. The Chief Minister’s return flight from Khandwa to Bhopal was completed without any further issues, bringing relief to administrative and security officials. We immediately discussed with the concerned officials. They said this is normal. During takeoff, the helicopter was facing one direction while it had to go in another direction. It started rotating to rise in the air and move in the designated direction. Meanwhile, more dust started flying. To prevent more dust from flying, the pilot reduced the helicopter’s speed. Then within a few seconds, the helicopter was brought down slightly and stabilized. After this, the helicopter departed for Bhopal.
