In Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh, a young couple ran away and tied the knot. Following the marriage, the girl’s family attacked the boy’s home, smashing property and allegedly looting gold and silver worth around ₹10 lakh. Frightened, the boy’s family abandoned the house and sought protection from the Superintendent of Police. The incident occurred in Gopalpura village. The victim, Deewalal, stated that his nephew, Manohar, and Jaswant Singh’s daughter, Ravina, had gone missing from the village on February 5. On February 11, it was discovered that Manohar and Ravina had married. The couple sent a video of the wedding. On hearing the news, Ravina’s father, Jaswant Singh, arrived at Manohar’s house with several family members. They vandalized the property and unleashed violence. The boy’s family fled the house in fear. Accused are stalking the daughters of the house Deewalal added that his two daughters were in the middle of their exams and were afraid to leave home. Men from Jaswant’s family reportedly followed them to the exam center. The fear was so high that his other nephew, Anurag, struggled to reach his 12th-grade exam center on February 10. Wedding photos and videos revealed Photos from Manohar and Ravina’s wedding on February 11 show the couple exchanging sweets after completing the rituals. In another video, Ravina discusses the marriage, which the couple sent to their respective families. After the wedding, Ravina posted a video on social media claiming she had insisted on marrying Manohar. Ravina stated that she had requested her family multiple times to allow her to marry Manohar. When they refused, she eloped with him. Vandalism and alleged loot by girl’s family Ravina’s relatives reportedly destroyed property in Manohar’s house, allegedly taking gold, silver, and cash worth ₹10 lakh. Manohar’s uncle, Deewalal, said the group came armed with sharp weapons, broke down the door, and entered the house. Deewalal and other family members fled to the police station with women and girls, preventing the boys from returning. The attackers allegedly ransacked the house, seizing 3 tolas of gold, 3 kilograms of silver, and ₹1.5 lakh in cash. They also destroyed furniture and removed 5–6 quintals of cotton. They reportedly damaged tractors and motorcycles before leaving. A police complaint has been filed, but no action has been taken yet. Victim family expresses distress Deewalal, speaking at the SP office, broke down in tears, saying, “My nephew married their daughter; what fault is it of ours? For the past eight days, we have been staying with relatives. Our livestock is left hungry and thirsty at home. We cannot even go to milk them. My nephew married their daughter, so why are we being punished?”
