In a major crackdown on the Iranian gang in Bhopal, police conducted a night raid on their hideout between Tuesday and Wednesday. Around 400 officers carried out the operation at 2 a.m., arresting 39 individuals, including 31 men and 8 women. During the raid, authorities seized 644 grams of gold, valued at approximately ₹1 crore. Citywide sweep As part of a broader citywide operation, police arrested a total of 408 people — including 283 with standing warrants and 125 with fresh arrest warrants. All were wanted in serious offences such as theft, burglary, chain snatching, and vehicle theft. Gang active across six states The gang, led by Raju Irani, who had previously been arrested in Surat, Gujarat, operates in six states, including Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. Seized items from the hideout Police said the gang members committed crimes in different ways across all six states. Earlier, on 31 December 2025, Bhopal police had also raided the gang in Aman Colony, recovering stolen goods and illegal weapons. The police operation is part of a continued effort to crack down on organised crime in Bhopal and across multiple states.
