Two houses burgled in a single night in Indar village of Shivpuri district, with miscreants escaping with around one kilo of gold, 2.5 kilos of silver and nearly ₹20 lakh in cash from the properties. The total value of the stolen items is estimated at about ₹1.5 crore. The incident has triggered panic in the village. Police said the biggest theft took place at the residence of Chandraprakash Raghuvanshi. Family member Ashish Raghuvanshi said all relatives had gone to sleep at around midnight when the thieves allegedly entered through the roof, broke the lock of a room and gained entry. Three trunks forced open The intruders broke open three trunks kept inside the room and stole 17 gold rings, three gold necklaces, four gold chains, old gold coins and nearly two kilos of silver jewellery. Around 50–60 tolas of gold was said to be newly bought, while about 50 tolas was ancestral gold kept at the same place. Ashish said he had recently sold maize and kept ₹15 lakh at home, in addition to about ₹5 lakh already present there. The thieves thus took away roughly ₹20 lakh in cash as well. Chandraprakash Raghuvanshi has three sons—Devendra, Mahendra and Vishal—all married with children. Devendra works as a patwari in Guna, due to which the wives and children of all three brothers live there for studies. Mahendra and Vishal stay in the village with their father Chandraprakash, mother and grandparents. The family owns around 130 bighas of fertile farmland. Second house also targeted On the same night, thieves also struck the house of Ramveer Singh Raghuvanshi in the village. According to family member Shivkumar Raghuvanshi, they broke a room lock and stole about 12 tolas of gold jewellery, nearly 500 grams of silver ornaments and ₹3,000–4,000 in cash. After receiving information, Indar police reached the spot and inspected the scene. A case has been registered against unidentified thieves and a search operation has been launched. CCTV cameras installed in nearby areas are also being checked.
