Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will not be able to make Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium their home ground for the IPL 2026 season. The Mumbai Indians (MI) have refused to grant the necessary approval for the use of this stadium. According to a Times of India report, MI did not issue the required No Objection Certificate (NOC) to RCB, due to which this option is currently off the table. Veteran Indian batsman Virat Kohli is part of the RCB team. RCB is still in search of venue for IPL 2026 11 people died in a stampede during RCB’s IPL victory celebration in Bengaluru on June 4. Following this, the state government adopted a strict stance regarding large events at Chinnaswamy Stadium. Due to this, BCCI had to shift some matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Women’s World Cup out of Bengaluru. Subsequently, on 17th January, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) received approval from the Karnataka government to host IPL and international matches at the stadium. KSCA had informed about this by issuing a press note. However, some reports later stated that RCB itself no longer wanted to host its matches at Chinnaswamy Stadium. Due to this, RCB is still looking for a venue to host its matches in IPL 2026. MI said that there are many other stadiums in the country If a franchise wants to establish its home base near another franchise’s home ground, it needs to obtain approval from that franchise. Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium are not too far apart. If a team wants to base itself at DY Patil, permission from the franchise operating from Wankhede is necessary. MI stated that there are many other stadiums in the country, and RCB should consider them first. RCB held talks with Chhattisgarh Government In January, Royal Challengers Bengaluru had discussions with the Chhattisgarh government about hosting at least two home matches in Raipur. After DY Patil Stadium was ruled out as an option, Indore has now emerged as a strong contender to host the remaining five matches. Indore’s name was discussed before, but now, with DY Patil out of the picture, it has once again become the primary option. 11 people died in a stampede in Bengaluru After the death of 11 people in the stampede, the Karnataka government’s report held RCB responsible for the accident. Kohli was also mentioned in it. The Karnataka government said that RCB had not taken any permission from the government for the victory parade organised at Chinnaswamy Stadium.
