England’s Test captain Ben Stokes has undergone successful facial surgery. Stokes sustained a significant facial injury after being hit by a cricket ball on his cheek. The 34-year-old Stokes shared an Instagram story on Tuesday, humorously writing, “May not look like it, but the surgery was a success.” Stokes was standing on the sidelines during the net session Last week, he shared an Instagram story detailing his injury, writing, “You should see the condition of the ball.” According to Cricinfo, when Stokes was injured, he was neither batting nor bowling, but was standing on the sidelines during a net session. He has also not been included in the squad for the ongoing T20 World Cup, which is taking place in India and Sri Lanka. The England Test captain could make his return in the first match of the home Test series against New Zealand in June. Before that, he might play for Durham in the County Championship.
