Police in Shivpuri have arrested a gang that targeted people by pretending to befriend them and then blackmailing them. The accused trapped 26-year-old businessman Aditya Jain by posing as a girl named Anjali and talking to him over the phone. They later called him to meet, took him to a jungle, recorded a video, and threatened him. Under pressure, Aditya was forced to transfer Rs 1,05,640 through PhonePe. According to the complaint, Aditya Jain said that on January 26, 2026, he began receiving calls from unknown numbers. The caller introduced herself as Anjali and slowly built a friendship with him through regular conversations. She later insisted on meeting him in person and kept reassuring him. Due to the continuous calls and trust built over time, Aditya did not suspect any wrongdoing. Called to meet alone, the gang was present
On January 31, 2026, at around three in the afternoon, Aditya Jain, along with his driver Vinod Rathore, arrived at Barodi Tank in his car, where ‘Anjali’ was present. The young woman made an excuse to meet alone and led him towards Baragaon Road.
Other members of the gang were already present there. As soon as Aditya arrived, five youths together assaulted him and forcibly took him to the jungle near Bankade Temple. Threatened to frame him in a false case by making a video
In the forest, the accused made a video of Aditya and threatened that if he didn’t pay the money, the video would be made viral on social media and false cases would be filed against him. Out of fear and dread of defamation, Aditya agreed to the demands of the accused. After this, the gang transferred a total of 1,05,640 through PhonePe and fled the scene. Cyber Cell started an investigation of mobile numbers
Based on the complainant’s report, Dehat Police Station registered a case under Crime Number 40/26, Section 308(5) BNS, and initiated an investigation. Considering the seriousness of the incident, a special team was formed under the direction of Superintendent of Police Aman Singh Rathore, and the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Mule and SDOP Sanjay Chaturvedi. During the investigation, information about suspicious mobile numbers was gathered with the help of the Cyber Cell. The accused stated that the conspiracy was planned meticulously
The investigation revealed that the number was registered in the name of Akash Ojha. During interrogation, Akash stated that his brother Raja Ojha and his wife Kalpana Rajak, alias Anjali, were using this number. Police took both into custody. During interrogation, Raja and Kalpana confessed to their crime. Kalpana revealed that Chandrapal Dhakad, a resident of village Enwara, had given Aditya’s mobile number to her husband and planned to trap him. The entire process was pre-plannedphone calls, arranging meetings, assault, and blackmail. Police arrested 5 accused
On February 9, 2026, police arrested Kalpana Rajak (23), Raja Ojha (21), Vikas Rawat (19), Chandrapal Dhakad (40), and Pawan Rawat (25). Rs 25,000 in cash was recovered from the possession of the accused. Police stated: Organised gang, interrogation underway
Police say that this was an organised gang, whose mastermind was Chandrapal Dhakad. It is suspected that the gang had previously targeted many people in a similar manner, but the victims did not come forward due to fear of defamation. Police are intensively interrogating the accused, and the search for other absconding accused is continuously ongoing.
