Former councillor and BJP leader Jitendra Chaudhary, also known as Jeetu, died by suicide in Khandwa on Tuesday. Police said he was under severe financial stress due to debt and alleged moneylending harassment. In his statement before death, Jeetu accused Congress leader and former councillor Ganesh Sakargaye of charging high interest. Police have started an investigation into the allegations. Consumed poison at Congress leader’s house Jeetu Chaudhary lived in Lavkush Nagar, Sector-3, Khandwa. On Tuesday morning, he went to the house of Ganesh Sakargaye on Badgaon Bhila Road, where he consumed a poisonous substance. Sakargaye and others immediately took him to a private hospital in Anand Nagar. As his condition worsened, he was referred to the district hospital, where doctors admitted him to the ICU. He died during treatment at around 2:15 pm. Police reached the hospital after receiving information and completed the legal formalities. Political background Jeetu Chaudhary was elected councillor in 2009 from Lal Bahadur Shastri Ward No. 48 on a Congress ticket. During the fall of the Kamal Nath government, he left the Congress and joined the BJP along with Jyotiraditya Scindia. Family details He is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter. His son, Vinayak Chaudhary, is a civil engineer, while his daughter is pursuing graduation. Police officials said the case is being investigated from all angles, including the allegations of usury.
