Madhya Pradesh will not witness severe cold over the next two days, with temperatures expected to rise by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius. However, meteorologists say that once a cyclonic circulation system passes and snow begins to melt in the northern hills, cold winds will return to the state, increasing the chill once again. According to weather scientist H.S. Pandey, February will see frequent fluctuations in weather conditions. At present, there are no chances of rainfall in the state. Cyclonic circulation active over Rajasthan The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported an active cyclonic circulation over southwest Rajasthan. Meanwhile, snowfall and rain are forecast in the hill regions. Due to this system, temperatures in Madhya Pradesh are expected to increase over the next two days. On Monday, cities including Bhopal, Indore and Ujjain witnessed bright sunshine during the day, pushing up maximum temperatures. However, the cold effect continues during the night and early morning hours, even though the mercury is gradually rising. Between February 13 and 15, temperatures are likely to fall, and the impact of cold weather will intensify due to cold northern winds. 13 cities record night temperatures below 10°C During Sunday–Monday night, 13 cities in the state recorded minimum temperatures below 10°C. Karaundi in Katni district was the coldest place, with a minimum temperature of 5.9°C. On February 4, 2018, the minimum temperature dropped to a record 1.9°C. In 2019, 2022 and 2023, minimum temperatures remained below 3°C. The city also recorded rainfall last year and saw showers on the first day of this February. Jabalpur: Changing weather patterns Jabalpur’s weather also fluctuates in February. After the second week, maximum temperatures usually exceed 30°C, while minimum temperatures remain around 11°C. Rainfall is common here, with six out of the past ten years recording February showers. Ujjain: Mix of heat, cold and occasional rain Ujjain experiences a mix of warmth, cold nights and occasional rain. Daytime temperatures often exceed 30°C, while minimum temperatures drop below 10°C.
