A bank employee allegedly died by suicide after shooting himself at his residence in Indore’s Vijay Nagar area on Monday evening. The incident occurred near Synergy Hospital when a team of officials from the Bank of Maharashtra arrived at his house in connection with loan recovery proceedings. The deceased has been identified as Hemant Brahmvanshi, son of S.D. Brahmvanshi. The shocking incident has sent ripples through the local community and raised concerns about the mental stress associated with mounting financial liabilities. Loan recovery team was present According to initial reports, bank officials had reached Brahmvanshi’s residence to initiate action to vacate the property due to non-payment of loan dues. The house had reportedly been mortgaged against a substantial loan, and the account had been in default for nearly one-and-a-half years. Officials were engaged in documentation and paperwork in an upstairs room of the house as part of the recovery process. During this time, Brahmvanshi allegedly took the extreme step and shot himself. The sound of the gunshot caused panic at the scene, and authorities were immediately informed. Police reached the spot soon after and began investigating the circumstances leading to the incident. The body was sent for post-mortem examination, and statements of bank officials and family members are being recorded. ₹2.5 crore loan in default Sources indicate that the property was linked to an outstanding loan of approximately Rs 2.5 crore. The loan repayments had reportedly been pending for around 18 months. While the exact reasons for the default are yet to be officially confirmed, financial strain is suspected to have played a significant role. Investigators are also looking into whether the deceased left behind any note or message explaining his actions. Brahmvanshi is survived by his elderly mother, two sons, and a daughter.
