Fresh allegations have emerged in the death of Head Constable Hoshiyar Singh in Neemuch, with his daughter accusing the police department of subjecting him to sustained mental pressure. His daughter, Arpita Yadav, claimed that her father had been under constant stress due to excessive workload and alleged harassment by senior officials. According to Arpita, despite undergoing four surgeries and struggling with health issues, her father was assigned heavy duties. She said he repeatedly requested lighter assignments, but instead, his workload was allegedly increased. “He was breaking under pressure” Arpita alleged that the Reserve Inspector (RI) and other officers frequently troubled her father. “He was asking for reduced duty because of his health, but instead, more responsibilities were imposed on him. The continuous pressure broke him from within,” she said. The family believes that prolonged mental stress played a key role in the tragic outcome. Had gone to extend leave The daughter further stated that her father’s leave period was coming to an end, and he had gone to the control room to request an extension. She said he appeared completely normal before leaving home — he spoke to family members, had his meal, and left in stable condition. Later, the family was informed that he had been admitted to a hospital. Letter allegedly holding department responsible Family members claim that Hoshiyar Singh had earlier written to the department, stating that if anything happened to him, the department should be held responsible. They allege that even after his surgeries, he continued to face duty-related pressure. Wife alleges corruption in duty allocation The deceased’s wife, Kamlesh Bai, alleged that duty assignments were influenced by bribes. “Those who paid money were spared from duty, while those who did not were made to work continuously, morning and evening,” she claimed. She added that her husband remained under constant stress due to this alleged practice. She also alleged that her husband’s mobile phone was missing from his pocket. Family kept away after death Kamlesh Bai further alleged that after the post-mortem, the family was not allowed to accompany the body. Instead, they were sent in a separate vehicle and dropped nearly seven kilometers away. The family claims they were not permitted to go near the body from the time of death until the post-mortem was completed. They also alleged that efforts were made to send off the body before the family could reach. No senior officer met the family The wife stated that neither the Superintendent of Police (SP) nor any senior officer visited the family after the death. The family has demanded an impartial investigation and justice. Police investigation underway Cantt Police Station in-charge TI Nilesh Awasthi said that the exact reason why the head constable allegedly consumed poison is still unclear. He confirmed that the matter is being investigated from all angles.
