On the instructions of Collector Lokesh Kumar Jangid, the task force started a major operation in Rajghat at 6 am on Monday. During this operation, the joint team of revenue, police and forest department destroyed the sand that was illegally dumped at Rajghat. There must have been more than a thousand trolleys of sand. The market value of the destroyed sand is estimated to be around Rs 30 lakh. Meanwhile, roads have been blocked by digging trenches. After this, Collector Lokesh Kumar Jangid called an urgent task force meeting and gave instructions for strict action. The task force team reached Chambal Rajghat at 6 AM on Monday. No digging machines were found at the sand mine, but the sand mafia had already dumped sand there. By 12 noon, the administrative team destroyed more than 1,000 trolleys of illegally extracted sand. More than 250 police personnel deployed During the operation, more than 250 police personnel were deployed at the spot to deal with any kind of disorder. The entire area remained converted into a police cantonment. This entire operation was carried out under the leadership of Forest Department’s DFO Harishchandra Baghel and Additional Superintendent of Police. Task force team used 6 JCBs The task force used 6 JCB machines to destroy the illegally extracted sand. The paths created by sand mafia to reach the Chambal River were also completely blocked with the help of JCB. The temporary paths made by sand mafia were closed by creating deep pits, so that tractors and vehicles could not move to the river. This strict action by the administration created panic among the sand mafia. During the action, no one came to the spot for excavation. Campaign to stop illegal sand mining will run for 15 days Forest Department’s DFO Harishchandra Baghel said that this campaign has been started on the Collector’s instructions. This action to stop illegal sand mining in Chambal River will continue for 15 consecutive days. The DFO said that the forest department needs police force for effective action against sand mining. Today, due to availability of adequate police force, this major action was possible, and the campaign will continue in the same way ahead.
