In Maheshwar, Khandwa, a dispute erupted between two groups during a cremation. Stone pelting left a police constable, the village watchman, and several villagers injured. To control the situation, police forces from three stations were deployed. The incident occurred on Monday in Sulgaon Dagdi village. The mother of Mohan Patidar, a resident of the village, had passed away. Relatives and family members arrived at an open area about 200 meters from the Narmada riverbank to perform the cremation. During the preparations, some villagers objected. They said that cremations should be conducted at the designated distance from the river. The objection led to discussions, which turned into arguments. The dispute then escalated into violence. The opposing group started pelting stones at those performing the cremation, creating chaos. Police identifying stone pelters Upon information, Mandleshwar SDOP Shweta Shukla reached the scene. Police forces from Mandleshwar, Maheshwar, and Kasrawad stations were called. Under their supervision, the cremation was carried out. According to officials, the village remains peaceful for now. The police are in the process of identifying those who threw stones.
