Deputy collector gets 10-year jail term in rape case:Barwani court delivers verdict; assaulted woman patwari during his tenure as SDM

The Third District and Sessions Court of Barwani has convicted Abhay Singh Kharadi, the then SDM Sendhwa and current Ujjain Deputy Collector, in a case of rape with a female Patwari. The court sentenced Kharadi to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of 1 lakh 1 thousand rupees. Based on the evidence and witnesses presented by the prosecution, the court found the accused guilty on all serious charges and pronounced the sentence. The victim female Patwari had filed a complaint in the year 2024. She stated that between 2016 and 2024, Abhay Singh Kharadi, misusing his official position, forcibly established physical relations several times. During this period, she was raped 4 to 5 times. The woman also stated that on the night of December 22, 2023, around 10 PM, at her house located in Gayatri Colony, Julwaniya, the accused assaulted her, abused her, and threatened to kill her. According to the prosecution, the accused used to blackmail the woman. He would break her relationships and threaten her over the phone with acid attacks, kidnapping, and murder. The woman alleged that the accused would make her unconscious, fill sindoor in her hairline, and take photos, so that he could defame her in society by claiming her as his wife. Prosecutor Shivpal Singh Sisodia stated that the accused’s wife suspected the complainant and their relationship. Disputes arose over this, and the accused’s wife also filed a case against the female Patwari and her family. It is alleged that after this, the accused assured the woman that he would get her case dismissed, and taking advantage of this, he continuously sexually exploited her.
