A 36-year-old restaurant owner Gaurav Sharma consumed poison in Shajapur and remains in critical condition. Prior to the incident, he recorded two videos in which he held his father-in-law and brother-in-law responsible for his situation. The incident took place at around 2 pm on Wednesday in Dwarkapuri Colony. In the video, Gaurav stated that he was taking the extreme step due to alleged harassment by his father-in-law, a jail guard, and his brother-in-law Kapil Vyas. He claimed that ongoing disputes between him and his wife were aggravated by what he described as “politics” played by his father-in-law, which he said destroyed his family life. He also appealed to the administration to take strict action against both. Patient rushed to hospital after consuming poison According to reports, Gaurav consumed poison on Muradpur Road. He was rushed to hospital and later referred to Indore due to his critical condition. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter and are examining the videos as part of the probe. Ongoing dispute with in-laws Kotwali Police Station in-charge Santosh Waghela said that there had been ongoing tension between Gaurav Sharma and his in-laws. He stated that Gaurav’s wife had earlier filed a complaint alleging assault against him, while Gaurav had also submitted an application at the police station against his father-in-law and brother-in-law. Police officials said that a dispute file involving both parties was already open, and the matter was under consideration even before the incident. Consumed poison on Muradpur–Bharan Road On Wednesday afternoon, Gaurav Sharma rode his bike to Muradpur–Bharan Road, where he allegedly consumed poison. Shortly after, his condition worsened and he collapsed unconscious on the road. Passersby recognised him and informed his family members. Police said that both videos recorded by Gaurav Sharma before the incident have been obtained and included in the investigation. Further action will be taken based on medical reports and evidence collected during the probe. Complaint filed at Kotwali police station on January 14 Gaurav Sharma had filed a complaint at the Kotwali police station on January 14, alleging assault by his jail guard father-in-law Dilip Vyas and brother-in-law Kapil Vyas. According to Gaurav, the two were forcibly taking his wife, Suman Sharma, to Pachor. He requested them to take her the following morning, citing his child’s poor health, but they refused. Gaurav stated that near Balaji Everfresh, when he tried to reason with them, both allegedly abused him verbally. When he objected, they assaulted him with kicks, punches and a belt, causing injuries to his back, waist and hand. He also alleged that his mobile phone was damaged during the scuffle. Local residents Dipendra Gond and Rakesh Solanki reportedly intervened to stop the fight. According to police records, Dilip Vyas is posted as a jail guard at Shujalpur jail. Gaurav Sharma and his wife were married 14 years ago. He runs Maa Kripa Restaurant located at the bus stand.
