Large-scale fraud has been detected under the Ayushman Bharat–Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), prompting strict action by the Madhya Pradesh government. Hospitals were found filing claims worth crores by falsely showing patient admissions, billing treatments for people who never visited hospitals, and even raising claims while remaining shut. Under the state’s anti-fraud drive, around 40,000 Ayushman cards have been disabled, claims worth nearly Rs 24.84 crore rejected, and Rs 2.15 crore recovered from erring hospitals, making Madhya Pradesh the leading state in anti-fraud enforcement under the scheme. 104 hospitals actioned under ‘Daksh Ayushman’ framework The action has been taken under the ‘Daksh Ayushman’ Framework, implemented by the State Health Agency (SHA-MP). So far, 104 hospitals have faced action for fraud, misuse, or irregular billing. The recognition is based on the effectiveness of the Daksh Ayushman Framework, which follows a zero-tolerance policy against fraud.
