A former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader who contested the Datia Assembly election was allegedly held hostage, stripped and brutally beaten for four hours. The accused also recorded a video of the assault and threatened the victim with dire consequences if he approached the police. The incident took place on Tuesday, January 20. The victim, Lokendra Ahirwar, a resident of Kamthara village, complained to the police station on Wednesday. Lokendra contested 2023 Assembly elections According to the complaint, Lokendra had contested the 2023 Assembly elections from Datia on a BSP ticket. Since then, Chandraprakash Ahirwar and Umesh Ahirwar had been holding a political grudge against him. Acting on this hostility, they allegedly abducted and assaulted him. Police have registered a case and launched a search for all the accused. Taken Away on the Pretext of a Party Lokendra told police that he was present in the Mandi Badauni area when Chandraprakash and Umesh approached him, claiming there was a party at a camp in Badauni. However, upon reaching the location, no such gathering was taking place. Soon after, Raja Ahirwar, Thakurdas Ahirwar, Rajdeep Ahirwar, and another unidentified youth arrived at the camp. Political Slogans Raised, Victim Assaulted The accused allegedly questioned Lokendra about his political activities and statements. They then raised slogans of “Mayawati Zindabad” and “Chandrasekhar Azad Zindabad”. When Lokendra objected, he was forcibly restrained and beaten with sticks. He was allegedly held captive for nearly four hours, suffering injuries all over his body. Video Recorded, Money Demanded Lokendra claimed that Raja Ahirwar threatened him with weapons, forcibly stripped him and recorded a video of the assault. The accused allegedly threatened to circulate the video on social media and even uploaded clips using the victim’s own mobile phone. During the ordeal, the attackers demanded money. When Lokendra refused, he was beaten again. Accused Fled After Family Arrived After some time, Lokendra’s father Beniprasad Ahirwar and another person reached the spot. Seeing them, all the accused fled. Before leaving, they allegedly warned Lokendra of serious consequences if he filed a police complaint. Social Media Posts Against BSP Lokendra contested the 2023 election from the Datia Assembly seat on a BSP ticket but lost. Subsequently, he was removed from the post of district president. After this, he began posting content on social media critical of the BSP and Dalits. Main Accused a History-Sheeter The prime accused, Raja Ahirwar, is a known habitual offender with several cases of murder and assault registered against him. About three months ago, police arrested him in an attempted murder case and took out a public procession in the main market. He was later released on bail. In the present case, Raja Ahirwar and his associates are currently absconding, police officials said.
