A case of molestation and under the SC ST Act has been registered against Sanjay Jain, Assistant Director of the Women and Child Development Department, in Narmadapuram. A 42 year old woman working in the same department has accused him of sexual harassment. According to the complaint, the woman said that whenever she went to Jain’s cabin, he would stare at her and often hold her hand. She said that when she objected, he threatened to remove her from her job. The victim told the police that on December 1, at around 2:30 pm during lunch time, she was walking on the office terrace when Jain came there and molested her. Out of fear, she did not tell anyone about the incident. She said that he later continued to harass her. Troubled by the harassment, the woman complained to District Programme Officer Lalit Daheria on January 12, but no action was taken. After this, she approached the women’s police station on Thursday and lodged an FIR against Jain. Station House Officer Hemlata Mishra said that further action will be taken after Grabbed waist on the roof, touched chest
The woman told the police- I am an outsourced employee in the Child Development Department. In October 2025, Assistant Director Sanjay Kumar Jain took charge. He kept the attendance register in his cabin. I used to go to Jain’s cabin to sign it or for some work, and he used to stare at me. He used to say that he would make it difficult for me to do my job. I kept ignoring his actions. On December 1, 2025, I was walking on the office terrace in the afternoon when Sanjay Jain came and grabbed my waist from behind. He touched my chest. When I tried to scream, he covered my mouth. He threatened me, saying that if I told anyone, he wouldn’t let me work. He also threatened to kill me. Out of fear, I remained silent. But he started harassing me even more. He harasses me in different ways. I have been enduring harassment for the past three months. Distressed, with the consent of my family, I decided to file a written complaint with the District Program Officer. But they took no action. Said – There are many other ways to earn money
The woman said – Assistant Director Jain gave me show-cause notices twice. I gave written replies to them. I went to him, pleading with folded hands not to give notices by making false accusations. I am a single widowed woman. I have three small children. I will lose my job. On this, Jain said – I’ll see how long you take to write the reply. Right now, I am an Assistant Director. After 2 years, when I become a DPO, how will you do your job? How much salary do you get? You can earn more money than this. What is your age right now? There are many other ways to earn money. Asked – Why does it take so long in the washroom?
The woman said – I am watched from the time I go to eat until I go to the toilet. I am asked which washroom I go to, why it takes so long? Why do I have to go to the washroom repeatedly? My limit of tolerance ended when I had to explain that I was on my period. I had to change my pad, which is why it took time in the washroom. Assistant Director said – Accusations made after notice was given
Regarding the allegations, Assistant Director Sanjay Jain said – The woman is an outsourced employee. She is continuously absent. In February 2025, she was absent for 11 days. The DPO issued four notices in February, March, September, October 2025 over the past 11 months. Due to the office work being affected, in December 2025, I wrote a letter to the outsourcing company for the recruitment of another employee. This is why she is making false accusations against me. My chamber has transparent glass, so every movement can be seen from outside.
