A young man from Rajasthan was arrested near the bus stand area in Mandsaur after allegedly staying at a hotel with a Hindu woman by hiding his real identity. The accused introduced himself as Chetan Prakash and submitted an Aadhaar card bearing that name while checking into the hotel. His actual identity as Ashraf Khan came to light after a discrepancy was noticed during a UPI payment. Hotel operator Ashok Maru said the couple had checked into Hotel Raj in the morning. Later, while verifying a UPI transaction for a payment of Rs 600, he noticed that the amount had been credited from an account registered in the name of Ashraf Khan, while the hotel register and Aadhaar details mentioned Chetan Prakash. The mismatch raised suspicion. Second Aadhaar card found When the couple returned to the hotel at night, the hotel owner questioned the young man regarding the discrepancy. During this process, another Aadhaar card was recovered from him. Both Aadhaar cards reportedly carried the same photograph but different names and addresses. This confirmed that a fake identity had been used to obtain the hotel room. Following this, the hotel operator informed the police. Police action and arrest Kotwali police reached the spot and took both individuals to the police station for questioning. After verification, the accused was identified as Ashraf Khan, a resident of Jaisalmer district in Rajasthan. Police arrested him and registered a case under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with other relevant sections. Station in-charge Pushpendra Singh Rathore said the matter is under investigation and both families have been informed. Reason for visit to Mandsaur During preliminary questioning, police found that Ashraf and the woman had come to Mandsaur to appear for a laboratory technician examination held at Shreeji College. Both are reported to be working as nursing staff at a hospital in Jodhpur. The woman is said to be a resident of Nagaur district in Rajasthan. They had taken the hotel room in the morning and left for the examination shortly afterward. Attempt to conceal religious identity According to police, initial investigation suggests that the accused used a Hindu name and fake Aadhaar card to avoid possible issues while staying at a hotel with a Hindu woman. However, the false identity was exposed due to the UPI transaction details. Police are verifying the authenticity of both Aadhaar cards and examining how the second identity document was obtained. Further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
