Indore has reported the 22nd death linked to drinking contaminated water. A 59-year-old woman, Kamla Bai, died during treatment at MY Hospital on January 9. Kamla Bai, wife of labourer Tulsiram, had been suffering from vomiting and diarrhoea since January 5–6. As her condition worsened, she was admitted to MY Hospital on January 7, where she later died. The couple had shifted to Bhagirathpura from Jeevan Ki Fail around 20 days ago. Family members said her health declined after she consumed contaminated water in the area. After the death, the family informed the municipal corporation team and the local centre in Bhagirathpura. However, since Kamla Bai’s Aadhaar card address was from Jeevan Ki Fail, the case was not registered as a death caused by contaminated water. Suffering from kidney disease for 1 year Dr. Ashok Yadav, Superintendent of MY Hospital, stated that Kamla Bai was not admitted to the unit for Bhagirathpura patients. She was a resident of Pancham Ki Fail and had been suffering from kidney disease for the past one year. Since it was not an MLC (Medico-Legal Case), her post-mortem was not conducted. Number of patients admitted to ICU increased to 13 On the other hand, in Bhagirathpura, people are still afraid of contaminated water. People are using RO, borewell, and bottled water. They are filtering and boiling the water before use. Meanwhile, the number of patients admitted to the ICU is fluctuating. On January 8, there were 10 patients in the ICU. On January 10, this number reached 11. On January 11, the number of patients admitted to the ICU became 13. Whereas for the past several days, 4 patients are reported to be on ventilators. On December 29, when many people were admitted to the hospital, Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, along with other public representatives, visited the hospitals and spoke to the patients and their families. Soon, a series of deaths due to contaminated water began. One after another, many people lost their lives due to contaminated water. The situation is such that many people are undergoing treatment in different hospitals. Some people are being treated in the ICU. The Health Department issued a bulletin on Sunday. According to this, 50 teams surveyed the Bhagirathpura affected areas. 176 members provided ORS and zinc tablets in 924 houses. Along with this, health-related check-ups for women and children were also conducted. Today, 13 diarrhea patients came to the OPD in the area, out of which 1 has been referred. Municipal Commissioner visited the area On Sunday, Municipal Commissioner Kshitij Singhal also visited the Bhagirathpura area. He inspected the ongoing works there. He also reviewed the water supply through tankers in the area. He also instructed the team to continuously make announcements to people about boiling and filtering water before drinking, cleaning drainage and sewerage lines, immediately removing sludge after cleaning, and for the malaria team to clean the drains. Additionally, the Municipal Commissioner has instructed all beat in-charges and sub-engineers of Bhagirathpura to carry out chlorination work in the government borewells falling under their respective beats.
