A dispute over electricity disconnection escalated into a violent clash involving physical assault, firing and vandalism in Gwalior district on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred around 4 pm in the Lal Tipara area, under the jurisdiction of the Murar police station. According to police, tensions flared when outsourced electricity department workers arrived to disconnect a power line. Frequent power cuts reportedly triggered an argument that soon turned violent. Assault allegations during power line disconnection Murar police said that Ravi Sharma, Ankur Sharma and Dinesh Pal were standing near a cowshed in Lal Tipara when the power staff reached the spot. An argument broke out over repeated electricity disconnections. It is alleged that Ravi and Ankur assaulted the workers who had come to cut the line. Second round of violence, gunfire reported Shortly afterwards, Sumit Yadav, Nitin Yadav and Ashif Khan, residents of Badagaon, arrived at the scene. This led to a second confrontation between the two sides. Eyewitnesses claimed that attackers used the butt of a country-made pistol and fired shots in the air. During the chaos, a car was also vandalised. On receiving information, Murar police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. A country-made pistol (katta) and cartridges were recovered from the scene. Allegations of criminal links Ravi Sharma alleged that Nitin Yadav and Sumit Yadav are associates of notorious criminal Kapil Yadav. He claimed that after the initial clash, the accused returned to the spot, assaulted him and Ankur again, and left openly threatening them. Kapil Yadav had recently been in the news for a firing incident on a businessman in Murar Sarafa Bazaar and was later arrested by police following a brief encounter. Counter-claims by other side Nitin Yadav and Sumit Yadav, however, denied the allegations and claimed that Ravi Sharma, Ankur Sharma and Dinesh Pal had attacked their father first. They said that when they reached the spot to talk, they were assaulted with the butt of a pistol and their car was damaged. They further alleged that when they managed to snatch the weapon, a video was recorded to frame them. Police say medical examination conducted City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Atul Kumar Soni confirmed that a dispute broke out between two groups over electricity disconnection in Lal Tipara. “Both sides have accused each other of assault with the butt of a country-made pistol and firing.
