A family dispute turned violent in Pipalkhoonta village under the Nahargadh police station limits on Saturday evening, when a man allegedly set his wife and her aunt on fire by pouring petrol on them. The incident occurred around 6 pm. The accused, identified as Rajnath, allegedly attacked his wife Mamta and her aunt Kasubai following a long-running marital dispute. Both women sustained severe burn injuries and were admitted to the burn ward of the district hospital. A video of the incident has surfaced, showing the accused setting the women ablaze. Police said the incident took place after the couple returned from a court hearing earlier in the day. See the images… According to the police, the accused first poured petrol on his wife Mamta and set her on fire. When her aunt, Kasubai, rushed in to rescue her, he allegedly poured petrol on her as well and set her ablaze. Hearing their screams, villagers reached the spot, doused the flames and rushed both women to the district hospital. Doctors said Mamta has suffered around 35 per cent burns on her face, chest and abdomen. Kasubai also sustained serious burn injuries and remains in critical condition. Mamta and Rajnath were married 15 years ago and have three sons. The couple had been living separately for the past one year. The victim’s family has alleged that they had earlier approached the Suvasra police but no action was taken. Nahargarh police said an investigation is underway and the accused is absconding. Efforts are on to trace him.
