The troubles of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) are increasing due to its stance on the demand to change the venue for the T20 World Cup from the ICC. Amidst the dispute with the BCCI, India’s sports manufacturer company, Sanspareils Greenlands (SG), has put the sponsorship of several players, including captain Litton Das and Mominul Haque, on hold. An official of the company told Bhaskar that, considering the current situation, we have put some sponsorships on hold. The Indian team has not been playing cricket with Bangladesh for a long time. In such a situation, sponsoring players from there makes no sense. Meanwhile, former captain Tamim Iqbal told the BCB, ‘Don’t make decisions about playing in the T20 World Cup based on emotions. Because any such decision could have an impact for the next 10 years.’ Relations between the Bangladesh Cricket Board and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have been tense since fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was removed from the IPL. BCB demanded venue change for the second time BCB has demanded ICC to change the venues of its matches for the second time in 5 days. It wrote the letter for the second time after discussions with Sports Ministry advisor Asif Nazrul. In this, BCB has provided ICC with full details of security concerns. The Bangladeshi board had written the first letter on January 4. Bangladesh banned IPL broadcast After Mustafizur was released from KKR, the Bangladesh Cricket Board and its government banned the broadcast of IPL. It also refused to play World Cup matches in India. What is the whole dispute? On December 16, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bought Bangladeshi bowler Mustafizur Rahman for Rs 9.20 crore in the IPL mini-auction. Following this, Mustafizur started facing protests in India due to the killing of Hindus in Bangladesh. So far, 6 Hindus have been murdered there. Later, BCCI did not allow Mustafizur to play in the IPL, and on January 3, KKR released him.
