A video from the Gwalior Trade Fair shows a young man performing a stunt on a boat swing and colliding with a pillar. While climbing onto the swing, his head hit the pillar, but the people sitting in the ride helped him sit safely inside. The exact timing of the incident is unknown, and no complaint has been filed. The swing association claims it’s an old video and that swings haven’t started, though the rides are currently operational at the fair. See 2 pictures of the incident Why wasn’t he stopped from climbing onto moving swing? Safety rules not being followed Safety lapses continue at fair swings Concrete measures are needed to prevent accidents. Each swing should have 15 feet of space on all three sides for emergency access. However, the swings at this fair are still placed too close, showing that safety improvements have not been implemented. This could lead to major accidents at any time. Ticket and softy counters set up by blocking road In this sector, 32 swings, big and small, have already been installed. Some more swings will come. Despite the fair authority and the inspection committee formed for the swings, the operators have installed the swings close to each other. The required open space has not been left between these swings. Operators have also encroached on the road in the swing sector. The ticket counter, electricity setup, and other arrangements are supposed to be made within the allocated space for the swing. However, the swing operators have placed the ticket counters on the road. With less road space remaining, problems will increase when the crowd grows. Gwalior Trade Fair Secretary Sunil Tripathi says- The responsibility for this lies with Bhaskar Saxena of the Heavy Machinery Division. It is not mine. The work of not leaving a 15-foot gap between the swings and installing them close together is also not mine. Executive Engineer/Heavy Machinery Division Bhaskar Saxena says- We have been placed in the investigation committee, the responsibility for installing the swings lies with the authority. The authority itself installed these swings. We have written a letter to ensure compliance with the rules. The NOC for the swings has been stopped. Instructions have been given for earthing in all swings. Steel seat belts are being installed.
