A tenant allegedly slit the throat of his landlord and threw him from the second floor of the house in Pithampur Sector-1 police jurisdiction on Wednesday night. The landlord’s younger brother witnessed the attack and tried to intervene, resulting in a brief struggle with the accused. Details of the incident The incident took place at a three-story house near Hotel Paradise on Mahu-Neemuch Road, owned by Akshay Phulware (23), son of Bag Singh Phulware. Akshay lived with his entire family in the house. The accused, Anil Vishwakarma (33), son of Shanta Prasad Vishwakarma from Satna, was renting a room in the house. Around 11 PM on Wednesday, a dispute erupted between the landlord and the tenant. During the altercation, Anil allegedly slit Akshay’s throat with a knife and then threw him from the gallery to the ground. Akshay’s younger brother witnessed the attack and attempted to stop Anil, leading to a brief scuffle between them. Akshay was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. Crime scene evidence Police reached the scene promptly after receiving information about the incident. A significant amount of blood was found at the location, confirming that the victim was stabbed multiple times. Thana In-Charge Om Prakash Ahir stated that a case under multiple sections, including murder, has been registered, and a manhunt for the accused is underway. Victim’s background Akshay ran a grocery store from the same house and lived with his parents, two brothers, and two sisters. He was engaged, with his wedding scheduled for April 2026. Preparations for the marriage were already underway. One of his sisters is already married, while the younger sister’s wedding was planned alongside Akshay’s. Family in shock The family expressed shock and confusion over the incident. “We still don’t understand why the tenant would do this. He had a good relationship with Akshay and often sat in his shop talking to him,” said family members. Sequence of events On Wednesday around 10 PM, Akshay had closed his store and was speaking to his brother-in-law on the phone. He then went to the second floor where the tenant Anil resided, at which point Anil allegedly stabbed him. The Phulware family lived on the third floor of the building. Accused details and investigation The accused, Anil Vishwakarma, is from Satna and works in a factory in Pithampur. He lived alone in the rented house. Police are investigating the motive behind the murder. Multiple teams have been deployed to track and arrest the accused, who is expected to be taken into custody soon, said Thana In-Charge Om Prakash Ahir.
