Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav visited and offered prayers at Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain on late Monday night to seek the blessings of Lord Mahakal. Nadda participated in the Shayan Aarti and offered prayers at the Mahakaleshwar Temple. On Tuesday morning, JP Nadda and CM Mohan Yadav jointly performed special worship in the Nandi Hall for nearly 20 minutes. They also entered the sanctum sanctorum (garbhagriha) to offer prayers and perform the ritual abhishek of Lord Mahakal. Special Shodashopachar Puja in sanctum
Inside the sanctum, the two leaders performed the abhishek, followed by a 20-minute Shodashopachar puja conducted by priest Akash. The ritual is traditionally performed for prosperity, fame, and well-being. Prasad distribution at Ann Kshetra After the worship, JP Nadda and CM Mohan Yadav, along with Madhya Pradesh in-charge Mahendra Singh, visited the Mahakal Temple’s Ann Kshetra. They distributed prasad to devotees and also partook in it themselves. The leaders were served poha as prasad and, in a symbolic gesture, carried their own plates to the designated area after finishing the meal. The leaders are also scheduled to inspect ongoing preparations and development works related to the upcoming Simhastha (Kumbh) festival. Message of devotion and cleanliness Aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat campaign, JP Nadda and CM Mohan Yadav demonstrated responsible behavior by disposing of used disposable plates in dustbins after eating. Through this act, they conveyed a strong message of cleanliness and collective responsibility. They stressed that all devotees are equal in the Mahakal area, sitting alongside common pilgrims to share prasad and personally ensuring cleanliness afterward. The gesture was aimed at encouraging devotees to actively participate in maintaining hygiene and sanctity in the temple premises.
