A 90-year-old man died when a dumper loaded with gravel overturned on him while he was sitting outside his house, basking in the winter sun in Gwalior. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon in Arnav Colony under the Bahodapur police station area and was captured on a nearby CCTV camera. Dumper lost balance near construction site The deceased, identified as Girraj Sharma (90), lived with his grandson Satish Sharma. On Friday afternoon, Girraj was sitting outside his house when a dumper carrying gravel arrived nearby for construction work at a neighboring house. According to eyewitnesses, the dumper’s tire got stuck in a pit dug for a pipeline, causing the vehicle to lose balance and overturn. Before the elderly man could get up and move away, the gravel spilled suddenly, burying him under the load. He died on the spot. The Bahodapur police reached the spot and retrieved the body from beneath the overturned dumper. Family members of the deceased also rushed to the scene after being informed of the incident. Police action underway Bahodapur police station in-charge Alok Parihar said that the dumper overturned after sinking into a pit near the construction site. The elderly man died after being crushed under the gravel. “The body has been sent for postmortem and later handed over to the family. The dumper has been seized, and efforts are on to trace the absconding driver,” he said. Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
