A minor dispute over playing cricket in Dhar turned violent when a group of boys assaulted a 17-year-old Class 10 student at the SPD Ground under the Kotwali police station area. The incident took place on December 13. According to police, around 10 boys ganged up on the teenager and brutally assaulted him using kicks, punches, slaps and belts. After the attack, the accused themselves recorded a video of the assault and shared it on social media, adding criminal-themed background music. The incident came to light after the video went viral, following which a complaint was lodged with the police. All the accused involved in the assault are also minors. The accused have been booked under sections related to assault as well as under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Police said the video is being examined as part of the investigation and further action is being taken in the matter.
