The Jabalpur CBI team raided the Central GST (CGST) office located in Gwarighat on Wednesday evening. Superintendent Mukesh Varman and Inspector Sachin Kant, posted there, were caught red-handed accepting a bribe of 4 lakh rupees. As soon as the CBI team reached the office, there was a commotion throughout the premises. Both officials had objected to transactions related to OYO transactions with hotelier Vivek Tripathi. The officials had demanded a bribe of 10 lakh rupees to settle the matter. Disturbed by this pressure, the hotelier complained with CBI Jabalpur. Threatened with a recovery of one crore Both officers posted in Central GST had threatened the hotelier by saying that due to OYO transactions, a recovery of about one crore rupees was being made. A warning of strict action was given if the amount was not deposited soon. As per CBI’s plan, both officers were arrested in their office at 6 PM while accepting a bribe of 4 lakh rupees. Currently, CBI is interrogating both of them and investigating other aspects related to the case.
