A routine ticket check on the Kamayani Express turned violent when a Mumbai Police constable allegedly punched a Deputy Chief Ticket Inspector (CTI). The clash broke out over travelling without valid tickets. The CTI suffered facial injuries and had to be taken to hospital. Railway Police have launched an investigation. Incident between Rani Kamlapati Narmadapuram The Kamayani Express was travelling from Ballia to Mumbai on Saturday. The incident happened in the sleeper coach between Rani Kamlapati and Narmadapuram stations. During ticket checking, a dispute started between Deputy CTI Rajesh Kumar and a passenger, later identified as a Mumbai Police constable. Dispute over unconfirmed tickets Deputy CTI Rajesh Kumar said four people were travelling together to Mumbai. They had only one confirmed ticket for berth number 26 in coach S-6. The remaining three passengers were travelling without confirmed tickets. When asked to pay the fine, the group refused. Constable allegedly assaults Deputy CTI According to the Deputy CTI, the passengers began misbehaving when the fine was demanded. One of them shoved him and snatched his belongings. During the argument, the constable allegedly punched Rajesh Kumar on the face. Blood started bleeding from his cheek due to the assault. Accused claimed to be posted in Mumbai GRP The Deputy CTI said the accused claimed he was posted with Mumbai GRP. Despite this, the checking staff continued with official procedure. The situation soon escalated into violence inside the coach. RPF action at Narmadapuram and Itarsi After information was sent to Bhopal Railway Control, the train was stopped at Narmadapuram station.With the help of RPF and GRP, both the Deputy CTI and the accused constable were deboarded. The constable’s father was later deboarded at Itarsi station. Medical examination at district hospital Both the injured CTI and the accused constable were taken to the district hospital.A medical examination was conducted. The injury on the Deputy CTI’s face was treated there. Constable’s version of events The accused constable was identified as Shivam Singh, posted in Mumbai’s Borivali area.He was travelling with his parents. Shivam Singh alleged that the Deputy CTI misbehaved with them.He claimed that his father was dragged while being deboarded by the RPF. GRP investigating the matter After the deboarding, all parties were taken to Itarsi GRP police station.GRP Station In-charge Sanjay Choukse confirmed that a quarrel took place in the coach. He said the entire incident is under investigation and further action will follow based on findings.
