Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary Anurag Jain has directed all department heads to complete any proposed changes in administrative units by December 31, 2025, in view of the 2027 Census.
After this deadline, all administrative units will be frozen, and no modifications will be allowed until the census is completed. Academic calendar to align with census schedule The Chief Secretary instructed the School Education Department to prepare the 2026–27 academic calendar keeping in mind the second phase of the census.
He said exam schedules must be planned in a way that students do not face any inconvenience. These directions were issued during the meeting of the State-Level Census Coordination Committee held at the Mantralaya. First phase in 2026: House listing and enumeration Officials were informed that the first phase of Census 2027 — house listing and housing census — will be conducted for 30 days between April 1 and September 30, 2026. Jain instructed departments to ensure that the selected 30-day window accounts for school schedules, weather conditions like monsoon, and other logistical aspects. Second phase in February 2027 The population enumeration, which forms the second phase of the census, will be conducted nationwide in February 2027.
The School Education Department has been advised once again to frame the academic calendar in sync with this period to avoid disruptions. Jain also directed departments to jointly plan the availability of adequate human resources to ensure smooth execution of the census. The Public Relations Department has been tasked with creating awareness and dispelling misconceptions among the general public. Mobile app for data collection and monitoring Jain said it is important to inform citizens that the 2027 Census will be digital for the first time, with data collected through a mobile application and monitored via a web portal.
He stressed spreading awareness about the confidentiality clause under Section 15 of the Census Act, which ensures that individual data cannot be used as evidence or for any other purpose.
