Madhya Pradesh is experiencing an unusually early winter this November. Cold winds are blowing during the day, while mornings and nights are chilly. Last night, temperatures dropped below 10°C in 11 cities. A cold wave alert has been issued for the next four days in 23 districts, including Bhopal and Indore. Records have been broken in several cities due to the early onset of winter. Western and eastern districts feel cold Initially, the western districts like Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Chambal, and Narmadapuram saw intense cold. Now, eastern districts such as Jabalpur, Sagar, Rewa, and Shahdol are also experiencing severe cold. On the night of Monday-Tuesday, Jabalpur recorded the coldest night of the season at 9.7°C. Bhopal recorded 8.3°C, Indore 8.4°C, Gwalior 11°C, and Ujjain 11.5°C. Record low in Rajgarh and other cities Rajgarh recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 8°C. Naugaon-Umaria in Chhatarpur had 8.5°C, Malajkhand in Balaghat 8.8°C, and Rewa 9.2°C. Other cities remained below 15°C. School timings changed in Dewas Due to the falling temperatures, Dewas Collector Rituraj Singh has postponed school timings. All schools, from nursery to class 12, will now open after 10 AM. This applies to government, private, grant-aided, CBSE, and board-affiliated schools. The measure is to protect students from health issues caused by cold. Cities colder than Himachal Uttarakhand Despite snowfall in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, several cities in Madhya Pradesh are experiencing more intense cold. The cold is stronger than in Shimla, Mussoorie, and Dehradun. Record-breaking cold in Bhopal Indore In Bhopal, the minimum temperature reached 8°C, breaking November records of the last 10 years. In Indore, it dropped to 7°C, the coldest November in 25 years. The previous November record in Indore was from 1938, when it reached 5.6°C. Pachmarhi: Cool days, mild nights In Pachmarhi, the hill station experienced cooler days but milder nights. On Monday-Tuesday night, the temperature was 13.8°C, while the day reached 23.6°C. In Betul, Dhar, Raisen, Sidhi, and Malajkhand, daytime temperatures remained below 27°C. Past trends show early winter For the past 10 years, Madhya Pradesh has experienced early cold along with November rainfall. October this year saw 2.8 inches of rain, 121% above normal. Even late October had record-low daytime temperatures, with Bhopal at 24°C, the coldest in 25 years. Other cities, including Ujjain, Chhatarpur, and Narsinghpur, recorded below 24°C. Weather forecast for November The Meteorological Department predicted colder weather in the second week of November. Northern winds are lowering temperatures, especially in Gwalior-Chambal division. Historically, Gwalior saw 3°C in November 56 years ago, while Ujjain recorded 2.3°C 52 years ago. Bhopal, Indore, and Jabalpur may see rain this month. Rain is expected due to active weather systems in the first, third, and fourth weeks of November.
