A potential blockbuster trade between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), involving Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson, is no longer just a rumour. What once seemed impossible in IPL circles has now entered active negotiations. While the deal has not yet been finalised, both franchises are seriously exploring the possibility. Both Jadeja and Samson are valued at ₹18 crore each, making the trade financially balanced. However, discussions have hit a temporary roadblock as the Rajasthan Royals are reportedly not in favour of a straight swap. The Royals’ management is believed to be pushing for the inclusion of another player in the deal, a demand that could prove to be the main sticking point. RR Demands more, CSK holds firm ahead of IPL mini-auction According to Cricbuzz, the Rajasthan Royals have expressed interest in adding Dewald Brevis to the trade package. The young South African batter, who joined CSK midway through last season, has since become one of the most sought-after names in global franchise cricket. He even drew a record bid at the SA20 auction earlier this year when Jo’burg Super Kings, CSK’s sister franchise, decided not to continue bidding. However, the Chennai Super Kings have made it clear that they are not willing to include any additional player in the trade, especially not Brevis. The franchise believes that trading away Jadeja, one of the most complete cricketers in world cricket, is already a major concession. Sources indicate that CSK consulted Jadeja before initiating talks, and the all-rounder is aware of the ongoing discussions. RR approached SRH KKR for Sanju Samson trade deal Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals are reportedly keeping communication channels open with other teams as well. The Royals have reached out to franchises like Sunrisers Hyderabad, Lucknow Super Giants, Delhi Capitals, and Kolkata Knight Riders to explore alternative options. Sources suggest that Sunrisers Hyderabad, however, are not particularly interested in Sanju Samson. With a strong top order featuring Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Ishan Kishan, the team management feels no need to make a trade for another top-order batter. Negotiations continue for the blockbuster trade between CSK, RR Rajasthan Royals’ lead owner Manoj Badale, who is currently in Mumbai, is personally overseeing the discussions. While both sides are still engaged in talks, the next move lies with Rajasthan. As of now, the trade remains uncertain, but if finalised, the Jadeja–Samson exchange could go down as one of the biggest deals in IPL history.
