Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has entered the controversy surrounding the serving of mid-day meals on paper plates in a government primary school in Sheopur. On Saturday, Gandhi posted on his X handle, saying, “BJP has even stolen the plates of children — the very children on whose dreams the future of the country rests are not even given a dignified plate.” School authorities suspended after viral video The incident came to light on November 4 at the government school in Hullapur, where children were served mid-day meals on paper plates. The video went viral on social media, prompting the suspension of school in-charge Bhogiram Dhakad. Additionally, the self-help group running the meal program had its contract terminated immediately. Former minister eats with students, SDM inspects school On Saturday, SDM Abhishek Mishra and former state Forest Minister Ramnivas Rawat visited the Hullapur school. They sat with the children while eating the meal and checked its quality, taste, and hygiene. Officials instructed teachers to ensure that students receive meals in a clean, hygienic, and dignified environment. SDM Mishra and Rawat also stated that regular monitoring of the mid-day meal program will be carried out to prevent such negligence in the future. Collector orders district-wide review of mid-day meal distribution District Collector and Magistrate Arpit Verma issued strict instructions to review mid-day meal distribution across the district. He warned that any negligence in children’s meals will not be tolerated, and responsible officials will face immediate disciplinary action. Following the Sheopur incident, the administration has become proactive, inspecting other schools to ensure that all children receive nutritious, clean, and dignified meals in the future.
