‘Isn’t ₹4 lakh enough?’- SC to Mohammed Shami’s estranged wife:Hasin Jahan challenges Calcutta High Court’s decision in Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has sent a notice to Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami. Shami has been sent this notice on a petition filed by his wife, Hasin Jahan, demanding an increase in alimony. The court has sought a reply on this within four weeks. Meanwhile, the next hearing of the case will be after four weeks. The Supreme Court asked Hasin Jahan, “Is the amount of ₹4 lakh not sufficient?” Earlier, the Calcutta High Court had ordered Mohammed Shami to pay ₹2.5 lakh per month as alimony for their daughter and ₹1.5 lakh for his wife. Hasin Jahan then approached the Supreme Court challenging this order. 4 lakh rupees per month is not enough for Shami’s estranged wife Hasin Jahan has challenged the Calcutta High Court’s decision in the Supreme Court, which had ordered her to be paid one and a half lakh rupees per month and two and a half lakh rupees per month for her daughter as alimony. According to her, this amount is insufficient, and she is demanding an increase in the alimony she receives. The Supreme Court has issued notices to the West Bengal government and cricketer Mohammed Shami on the petition. High Court order mandates Shami to give Rs 4 lakh every month Earlier, the Kolkata High Court had ordered Shami in July to pay Hasin Jahan and daughter Ayra Rs 4 lakh every month. Shami was asked to pay this amount for monthly maintenance. The hearing of Shami’s case took place on April 21, 2025, on which a decision was given on July 1, 2025. According to the order, Hasin Jahan will receive Rs 1.50 lakh and daughter Ayra will receive Rs 2.50 lakh per month. This amount will be applicable from the last seven years. Marriage took place in 2014 Shami and Hasin Jahan’s marriage took place in 2014. In 2018, Shami’s wife accused the cricketer and his family of violence. About a year after their marriage, on July 17, 2015, the couple had a daughter. After the birth of his daughter Aira, Shami came to know that Hasin Jahan was already married and had two children from her first marriage. Shami married Hasin against his family’s wishes Shami hails from Sahaspur Ali Nagar village in Amroha, UP. He married Hasin from Kolkata on June 6, 2014. Hasin was a professional model and a cheerleader for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). They got acquainted. Shami decided that he would marry Hasin Jahan. When she told her family, they did not agree to this relationship. Nevertheless, they both got married. Haseen was divorced. In 2002, she married Saifuddin in a love marriage from Birbhum district. Saifuddin ran a stationery shop. They had two daughters. In 2010, their relationship deteriorated and then they both got divorced.
