A six-lane flyover will be constructed at the 11-Mile Khajuri Junction on the Bhopal-Indore State Highway, with a total length of 850 meters. The groundbreaking ceremony for the project was held on Wednesday by Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar and Huzur MLA Rameshwar Sharma. The flyover, costing Rs 31 crore, is being constructed by the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation (MPRDC), which had also built the Bhopal-Indore State Highway. The project is expected to significantly improve traffic and crowd management during the upcoming Simhastha in Ujjain. Relief for traffic at bypass junction MLA Rameshwar Sharma said the new flyover will ease congestion on the Bhopal-Indore Highway and at the Bhopal bypass junction, while also managing the increased traffic expected during the Singhast festival. Development extending to rural areas Assembly Speaker Tomar highlighted that under MLA Sharma’s leadership, development projects in Huzur constituency are extending to rural areas, bringing city-like infrastructure improvements. In the past five days, over Rs 100 crore worth of development projects have had their groundbreaking ceremonies in the Huzur assembly area. Projects include: Targeted completion before Simhastha 2028 The flyover is slated for completion before the 2028 Ujjain Simhastha, ensuring minimal inconvenience to the millions of visitors expected. MPRDC has been tasked with completing the flyover within 18 months. The project will also feature service roads and street lighting on the flyover, enhancing overall safety and accessibility.
