After 38-year-old High Court lawyer Abhijita Rathore from Indore was declared brain-dead, her organs were donated on Sunday. The city’s 65th green corridor was created for the procedure, during which her liver and both kidneys were transported to three hospitals in Indore for transplantation. An emotional scene unfolded at Jupiter Hospital, where Abhijita’s husband, Praveen Rathore, bid a final farewell by placing the mangalsutra on her for the last time. She was later given a guard of honour in tribute. Abhijita had lung infection According to brother Abhijeet, Abhijita was admitted to the hospital on October 25 due to lung infection. During treatment, she developed a blood clot in her brain, due to which doctors declared her brain dead on Saturday. Muskan Group Paramarthik Trust’s volunteers Jeetu Bagani and Sandeepan Arya informed that Abhijita’s liver was sent to CHL Hospital, one kidney to Jupiter Hospital and the second kidney to Choithram Hospital for transplantation. After completing the allocation process for the remaining organs, transplant procedures were carried out in other hospitals as well. Studied law during pregnancy Abhijita Rathore did engineering in Electronics and Instrumentation. After engineering, she studied law while being pregnant. She obtained an LLB degree. After this, she also earned an LLM degree in Criminology. Created distinct identity in law practice through legal knowledge Abhijita started practicing law in District Court and High Court with her brother’s help. She created a distinct identity in the legal field through her sociability and legal knowledge. Her husband Praveen Rathore is a railway contractor. The family includes daughter Parnika (13) and son Abhiratna (5). Elder brother Abhijeet Singh Rathore is a Public Prosecutor in Indore. Father Ratan Singh Rathore served as Deputy Director of Public Prosecution and was also the National President of Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Rathore Mahasabha. Mother Giribala Rathore is an educationist.
