Ladli Behna to receive ₹1500 every month in MP:CM Yadav announces installment increase on Bhai Dooj; says, ‘being a brother to 1.26 crore sisters is no small matter’

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on the occasion of Yam Dwitiya (Bhai Dooj) announced an increase in the Ladli Behna scheme, under which sisters across the state will now receive Rs 1,500 every month.
The announcement was made during a program at the Chief Minister’s residence, attended by ministers, MLAs, and municipal officials. “Being a brother to 1.26 crore sisters is not a small matter. May your blessings remain with me throughout life,” said CM Yadav while addressing the gathering. Previously, under the scheme, sisters received a monthly installment of Rs 250. The new increase reflects the state government’s effort to further empower and support women.
CM highlights significance of sisters in society During the event, CM Yadav narrated the story of Yamraj and his sister Yamuna, emphasizing that sisters play an important role in both their maternal and marital families. “Sisters are called Jagdamba, Lakshmi, and Saraswati not without reason. They stand like a rock to protect their family in times of crisis,” CM Yadav said. He also stressed the cultural and moral importance of the brother-sister bond: Democracy is stronger when the relationship between brothers and sisters is strong. The festival of Bhai Dooj is not just a celebration but a reminder of the responsibility brothers have to ensure their sisters’ happiness, safety, and respect. Government officials attend event The Bhai Dooj program at the CM residence was attended by prominent leaders, including: Financials of the Ladli Behna Scheme Since its inception, the Ladli Behna scheme has directly transferred Rs 44,917.92 crore into the accounts of eligible sisters. From November onwards, the new installment of Rs 1,500 per month will be credited, incurring an annual expenditure of over Rs 300 crore. CM Yadav highlighted the symbolic significance of brother-sister relationships: The bond between Lord Krishna and Subhadra is the finest example of a brother protecting and respecting his sister. Similarly, our government stands for the welfare, safety, and self-reliance of every Ladli Bahna in the state “The smile of a sister is the foundation of society’s prosperity,” CM Yadav added.
