The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhopal has marked another major milestone in the field of advanced medical education and patient care by launching Madhya Pradesh’s first DM (Doctorate of Medicine) Interventional Radiology Superspecialty Course, the institute authorities reported on Wednesday. The programme, set to commence in January 2026, marks a significant step towards expanding super-specialty medical training and improving access to advanced healthcare services within the state. Initiative led by experts in radio diagnosis The initiative, according to the hospital authorities, is being spearheaded by Dr Rajesh Malik, Professor and Head at the Department of Radio-Diagnosis, and Dr Aman Kumar, Additional Professor, at the Department of Radio-Diagnosis at the institute. This cutting-edge course will train doctors in minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, enabling them to deliver faster, safer, and more effective treatments for patients. Candidates to gain admission through INI SS exam The first batch for the DM Interventional Radiology programme will be admitted in January 2026 through the INI SS (Institute of National Importance Super Speciality Entrance Test), which is a competitive national-level examination conducted for superspecialty courses across premier medical institutions in India. Aim to advance patient care and recovery AIIMS Bhopal authorities said ahead of the course’s launch that the programme will contribute to improving patient outcomes by promoting procedures that reduce recovery time, hospital stay, and treatment costs. “The course will also ensure that highly trained interventional radiologists are available to cater to the growing demand for advanced image-guided therapies,” doctors from the institute said. AIIMS Bhopal committed to excellence: Executive Director Commenting on the launch, Professor (Dr) Madhabananda Kar, Executive Director at AIIMS Bhopal, said This initiative will not only enable medical professionals from Madhya Pradesh to receive world-class superspecialty training within their own state, but will also directly benefit patients by expanding access to advanced diagnostic and therapeutic care at AIIMS Bhopal.
