Ujjain conman exploits CM Mohan Yadav’s name to defraud victims:Posed as close aide; lured victims with fake loan promises, duped lakhs

In Ujjain, a conman named Waseem Haji has defrauded several people of lakhs of rupees by claiming to have close contacts with the Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and senior RBI officials. Using fake promises of loans and other schemes, he trapped victims and collected cash, jewellery, and documents. Exclusive audio clips obtained by Dainik Bhaskar reveal how he misled people and presented himself as a powerful broker. Police have started investigating the case based on victim complaints. Fraud by using CM and RBI connections Waseem Haji, a resident of Ujjain, presented himself as close to the Chief Minister and RBI officials. He told victims that he could get loans approved quickly. Audio recordings show him saying, “Mohan Yadav’s file has come, I went to refuse it. Don’t do the work, he won’t give money.” Victims trusted him and paid large sums over months and years. Some victims paid in instalments, while others gave jewellery and important documents. 3 cases show how the fraud worked Case 1: Dream home lost: Abid needed money to build a house. Waseem Haji approached him, claiming to have direct contacts in Bhopal and Delhi with RBI officials. He promised a loan of up to 1 crore. Over two years, Abid paid more than Rs 25 lakh in fees and other expenses. No loan was approved, and none of the money was returned. Case 2: Savings of Rs 5.75 lakh lost: Amreen Bano wanted to rebuild her old house. Waseem Haji promised a loan of Rs 15 lakh, claiming to have RBI contacts. She gave her entire savings of Rs 5.75 lakh over two years. In the end, no loan was granted, and her money was gone. Case 3: Business expansion loan failed: Mohammed Azam Qureshi, a spice business owner, sought a loan to expand his business. Waseem Haji took Rs 20 lakh in instalments, promising a loan. He gave excuses every time Azam asked about it. Azam kept a safe at home as instructed, but it remains empty. Cash, jewellery, and documents also looted Fake Photos: Waseem Haji sent victims photos showing officers at their sites to create the illusion of progress. Gold Jewellery: When Abid said he had no money, Waseem asked for gold gifts for officers. He took Abid’s wife’s jewellery, which was never returned. Misuse of Documents: Victims were made to sign blank stamp papers. Important documents such as checkbooks, Aadhaar, and PAN cards were taken. Waseem used them to take loans from other institutions in victims’ names. Fake Identity: Waseem claimed to be the President of the Waqf Board. He showed fake letters naming his associates as Secretary and Treasurer. He promised to get Waqf land on lease to lure victims. Audio evidence shows misleading tactics Audio 1: Waseem Haji told a victim that he refused a file from Madam related to land in Seewarkhedi and near Vikram University. He said the land was being converted for private use and that he had refused to submit information, pretending to be powerful and connected. Audio 2: In another recording, Waseem Haji admitted that Mohan Yadav had told him to stop work on a hospital project. He claimed Sangh members halted the work. These audios show how he misled victims by using the names of high officials and fake authority. Police action underway Ujjain SP Pradeep Sharma said that four victims have filed complaints against Waseem Haji. The police have received two audio recordings. The recordings are being verified. Action will be taken against the accused soon.
