On the World Anaesthesia Day, the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists (ISA) – Indore Chapter announced that it will expand its CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and anaesthesia awareness campaign to slum areas and residential colonies across the city. The decision follows a series of sessions already conducted for Indore Police, Dial 100 teams, and school students, aimed at improving public preparedness for medical emergencies. Focus on social responsibility and public awareness Speaking about the community outreach, Dr Subodh Chaturvedi said that the next phase of the campaign will take CPR training to people living in densely populated areas with limited access to emergency care. Knowing CPR can save lives in the crucial first few minutes before medical help arrives. he said, adding that the society plans to work with local associations to organize small-group training sessions. ISA members also used the occasion to address common concerns related to anaesthesia. Dr. Vikas Gupta noted that most surgical fears stem from misinformation and lack of dialogue between patients and doctors. He outlined three essential points for patients: Experts also explained the three types of anaesthesia including general, regional, and local, and their safety practices, underlining that modern procedures are supported by advanced monitoring and equipment. Beyond the operation theatre The speakers discussed how the role of anaesthesiologists now extends beyond surgeries, covering critical care, pain management, and emergency response. The expansion of CPR and anaesthesia education, they said, aims to make essential medical knowledge more accessible to the public.
