More than 20 elderly couples who had completed over 50 years of marriage were honoured at a special ceremony in Indore. The event celebrated their lasting love and commitment with full wedding rituals, music, and dance. Organised by the Sikhwal Brahmin community during the All India Youth Introduction Conference, the evening turned emotional and joyful as the couples relived their wedding day moments. Couples honoured for 50 years of togetherness The event was held at Ravindra Natya Griha on Sunday evening. More than 20 couples, all married for over five decades, were felicitated on stage. Dressed as brides and grooms, they took part in wedding rituals once again, symbolising their lifelong bond. Traditional wedding procession revived Before the rituals began, a lively procession was taken out. Elderly men, dressed as grooms, rode horses or sat in decorated carriages. Band music and drum beats filled the air as the baraat moved through the streets. Passersby stopped to watch and cheer for the elderly grooms. See pictures of the event – Joyful dance and melodious music When songs like ‘Ae Meri Zohra Jabeen’, ‘Chandi Jaise Rang Hai Tera’, and ‘Sau Saal Pehle Mujhe Tumse Pyar Tha’ played, the elderly couples couldn’t resist dancing. They moved happily on stage while family members and guests recorded the beautiful moments on their mobile phones. The hall was filled with excitement, laughter, and emotion. Memorable moments captured Elderly men, many above 70, rode horses again after decades. Some couples enjoyed carriage rides together, smiling and waving to the crowd. Family members danced joyfully to the band’s tunes, adding energy to the celebration. The highlight of the event was when all the couples exchanged garlands on stage and danced together. Lessons on love and relationships The couples shared a message with the younger generation—relationships grow stronger with patience, understanding, and dedication. Their sons, daughters, in-laws, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren joined the celebration, turning it into a family reunion full of warmth and love. Inspiration for the young generation Event coordinator Ghanshyam Joshi said around 600 young men and women from across the country attended the conference. The society honoured the senior couples as a source of inspiration, showing that lasting marriages are possible when built on devotion and respect. The ceremony made the golden jubilee of their marriage truly unforgettable.
